The Contra Costa County Hazardous Materials Commission is seeking applicants for one environmental justice representative seat and one environmental justice representative alternate seat.
The commission is a voluntary body appointed by the Board of Supervisors and makes policy recommendations to the board and county staff on issues concerning hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
The commission’s 14 members and alternates serve four-year terms and include representatives from industry, labor, civic groups, environmental organizations, environmental engineers, the public, cities, and environmental justice communities.
Ideal candidates:
Committed to environmental justice
Live in a Contra Costa community affected by hazardous materials
Represent community interests
Interested in hazardous materials issues
Available for monthly meetings

Interviews for qualified applicants will be held on Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Do you really need commitment to “environmental justice”, nebulous. nebulous, nebulous, if you can bring money, which is very hard and very real!? It will be interesting to see who shows up.
