Witnesses reported a man down and bloodied outside the Rossmoor Safeway store in the 1900 block of Tice Valley Boulevard after he was assaulted by a carload of young men wearing hoodies.

A car similar in description to the vehicle used in the assault was stopped by police a short distance away and four teens were arrested after their car was stopped on nearby Chives Way.

Four people remain in custody following an incident near Rossmoor. On Thursday, August 7th, at approximately 11:00 PM, the Walnut Creek Police Department was dispatched to the 1900 block of Tice Valley Blvd. on the report of an elderly male being assaulted. Numerous Officers quickly arrived on scene and learned the victim had suffered significant injuries. Officers learned four female suspects had assaulted the victim, stole some of his personal property and then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Witnesses to the crime provided valuable information and Officers were able to leverage technology to confirm the suspect vehicle. Walnut Creek Police Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle a short time later. All four suspects were taken into custody. The adults were booked into Martinez Detention Facility. The juveniles were booked into Juvenile Hall.
Walnut Creek Police Department Officers and Detectives are continuing to investigate this crime. There appears to be no continued threat to community at this stage. Due to the age of two of the suspects, their names cannot be released. The victim’s name is being withheld to protect their privacy.

What’s that mean? They were immediately apprehended and arrested. They will be prosecuted. Who are you trying to point finger at?
Sorry, but I agree with Jeff. The trend has clearly been to release the people right away with no consequences… then they go out and do it again, and again even more emboldened. And this is what the judges, DAs and politicians who make the laws ( or choose not to enforce the laws ) that we voted in have been doing.
I didn’t vote for them. But I got stuck here with the herd mentality of Contra Costa county and California at large.
Can you now explain why, after CA had a Three Strikes law that sent people to prison for life still had crime? Or maybe … just maybe .. it’s a lot more complex of an issue than just lock ‘em up.
Every post about a crime, it’s the same thing. “We need to get pack to punishing all of those criminals” as if that ever stopped. But we do know when it was even more extreme, it didn’t give us a miracle fix to crime.

Fine young women, beating up on an old man! I wish there would be consequences, I doubt if they’ll be punished though.

Thanks for those alerts!
You betcha!
Great that they caught them. Now give them a punishment they won’t forget.
Start with a good spanking and finish by sentencing them to work in a senior care facility
Throw the book at them. I don’t want him anywhere near seniors. They might further their abuse.
Girls? What the heck is going on?
