A carload of people returning from a concert in San Jose told California Highway Patrol officers their car was fired upon by occupants of a “dark sedan” while traveling north on I680 near Stone Valley Road in Alamo early Thursday morning.
One woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a head laceration. It was not immediately known if the injury was caused by a bullet, fragments or objects kicked up by the bullet’s path. At least five rounds are believed to have struck the group’s black Tesla, which lost pressure in two of its tires. Her two passengers were not injured.
The driver is expected to recover fully. The gunfire, reported just after midnight, is believed to have been a random act and not the result of road rage or targeted violence.
Officers determined the Tesla was fired on from both sides, with the suspect vehicle maneuvering to fire on the victim car on both the driver’s and passengers side. The injured driver exited the freeway at Stone Valley and drove on flattened tires to the 2300 block of Stone Valley Road where police were requested.

We didn’t believe your alert on this when it came in. That will teach us!!
My friend and I were on that freeway and 4 highway patrol were in front of us but we didn’t see anything. We stopped from Diablo and went slowly to Stone Valley.
Thanks for checking in, Cesar… we rely on firsthand accounts of incidents in our area.
Insane
Are there cameras on the freeway to get a license plate of the car and find these people?
Short answer – Mom – is that there are cameras along our highways though it is dark in the area where this shooting occurred and the cameras aren’t always live during an incident. We shall see.
Hard to believe they weren’t targeted for some reason. Very scary that so many shots were fired!
Casings? Video?
How scary. Random acts of violence happen, and hopefully they’re rare. I hope she’s okay.
Not rare. Did you catch the two stabbings this weekend over Pokemon cards, it’s the world California has voted for.

I think it’s misleading to say that people voted for crime. And I think it’s underhanded to try to leverage violence to advance one’s political beliefs.
Nice reporting, just sorry I didn’t get an alert so I could respond Code 3.

Check your spam filter. If you’re an Alamo-Danville subscriber, you got an alert in real-time. Went out at 12:25am.
Sorry, but you’ve only got me for two. WC and Orinda.

Aha! Have to work on you for another region!
I think they had to be targeted. I bet coming back from a concert in San Jose after midnight…they probably were followed from somewhere down that way. Alamo is not the type of community that has people laying in wait with guns to ambush you.
Greg,
Likely not targeted, probably road rage or random.

Jeff. I respect you! And maybe I’m naive. But are you telling me that people lying and wait along these freeways to do stuff like this? Or they’re just cruising around all areas waiting to pounce? That is what’s scary and that’s why I hope the Tesla cameras got good footage to where these evil people can be put away. I’m worrying that if our state doesn’t start cracking down on criminals individual citizens will.
But something tells me that the state would come after those individuals with harshness and swiftness that they would never use on a real Criminal. Some things upside down here!
It’s why I’ve been telling people on this site to use caution….. everywhere. Danville at 2am, San Ramon at 12 noon, you never know when or where, ITWWOT.

That’s a pretty long way to drive if you targeted someone in San Jose.
It’s a Tesla, so perhaps she had the dashcam system enabled. Unfortunately, she may have been too distracted to remember to hit the save video button.
If that was random I’d hate to see targeted.
That was my first thought. Besides the suspect, who knows. The victim is being reported as a person, a man or a woman, depending on the media organization. Huh?
Hope they catch them
