East Bay Regional Park District officials said a 5-year-old girl was approached and bitten by a coyote at Dublin Hills Regional Park in Dublin Wednesday.
A district spokesman said the girl was transported to Oakland Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after she was bitten at 2:22 p.m. Officers are on scene and coordinating with Department of Fish and Wildlife officials to resolve the situation. The park is currently closed.
A reader who contacted this site via its Facebook page and who identified herself as the child’s mother reported walking in the park when they encountered five animals, who approached the woman and her daughter.
“There were 5 (animals) and this one was persistent,” she wrote. “He circled me and my children for 2 minutes as we screamed desperately for help.”
The child is currently listed in stable condition.
