Pittsburg, California – March 4, 2015, — The RotaCare Pittsburg Free Medical Clinic, a free urgent/primary care medical clinic located at 2210 Gladstone Drive, Pittsburg, CA, announces a call for additional volunteer Physicians, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, and invites all retired and current practitioners to an Open House on Wednesday, March 18, 6:00-7:00 pm.
Current volunteer physicians will lead tours of the 4-exam room clinic will be conducted by physicians who are current volunteers at the free clinic, and refreshments will be served.
Physicians are invited to investigate volunteering by providing 3 hours per month, or every other month. Volunteer medical professionals can schedule shifts at their convenience. The RotaCare Pittsburg Free Medical Clinic at St. Vincent de Paul serves uninsured adults with chronic/urgent healthcare needs, and has provided over 4500 patient visits since opening in February 2011. Even with implementation of the Affordable Care Act, 70,000-90,000 Contra Costa residents will remain without health insurance. Clinic hours are Wednesdays, 4:00-8:00 pm. and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, (9:00 am-12:00 pm). Appointments can be made by calling (925) 439-2009 between 1-3 pm on Wednesdays. The clinic is led by Moraga resident Medical Director Dr. Khonsari.

My experience serving at the RotaCare Pittsburg Free Clinic has been extraordinarily rewarding,” said Alamo resident and volunteer Physician Dr. Tom Long. Dr. Steve Larmore, Retired Alamo Physician and RotaCare Pittsburg Advisory Committee member adds, “The clinic is an amazing environment providing comprehensive services in a clean, professional setting, and the free clinic provides malpractice insurance for all medical volunteers.”
St. Vincent de Paul Society of Contra Costa County looks to strengthen vulnerable families by providing not only free medical care, but by also providing nutritional support, (free meals and emergency food), free clothing/furniture, rental assistance, immigration and legal services, job training, and shelter for the homeless. This compassionate assistance is provided without discrimination of any kind; “No Act of Charity is Foreign to the Society”.
