On the 15th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, DC, the Lafayette Flag Brigade will turn out and unfurl the nation’s colors atop the highly visible El Curtola Bridge overpass.
The local remembrance starts at 4 p.m. and includes local Blue Star Moms, a program of patriotic music and Lafayette Boy Scouts Troop 243, who will be presenting the nation’s colors. Local residents are encouraged to share their experiences that day.
Organizers stress the annual gathering is a family oriented, educational and nonpolitical event. Free commemorative flags will be available for children.
Anyone wishing to help organize the event is invited to contact Patty O’Day at 925-209-5250.
