DESCRIPTION:The Town of Danville\, in partnership with the Eugene O’Neill
  Foundation\, will hold a special commemorative event to officially rename
  Front Street Park as Eugene O’Neill Park on Friday\, September 11\, at 
 2 p.m. \n\nThe ceremony will celebrate O’Neill’s life and legacy throu
 gh remarks and poetry readings\, with participation from the Eugene O’Ne
 ill Foundation\, Danville’s Poet Laureate and Youth Poet Laureate\, and 
 representatives from New Ross\, Ireland. Danville and New Ross are officia
 l friendship cities connected through O’Neill’s Irish heritage and his
  father’s roots near New Ross. \n\nLocated on Front Street across from t
 he Danville Community Center and Library\, the park already serves as a pe
 rmanent tribute to O’Neill. The site features commemorative pedestals wi
 th bronze lettering and quotations from some of his most recognized works.
   \n\nEugene O’Neill\, America’s only playwright to receive the Nobel 
 Prize in Literature\, chose Danville as his home during one of the most si
 gnificant periods of his career. His time in Danville remains an important
  part of the Town’s history and helped shape its enduring connection to 
 the arts. \n\nRenaming the park creates a more visible and permanent tribu
 te to O’Neill in Downtown Danville\, giving residents and visitors a pla
 ce to learn more about his life\, work\, and legacy.
