“Celtic Jazz,” featuring vocalist Melanie O’Reilly, is the first in a new concert series starting on Thursday May 3, at 7:30 at the Village Theatre. It is jointly presented by the Eugene O’Neill Foundation, Tao House and the Museum of the San Ramon Valley.
A fusion of Celtic melodies with American jazz, Melanie’s original compositions are inspired by traditional Gaelic culture and contemporary Irish poetry. A unique and electrifying evening of music not to be missed.
The concert will feature Dublin native Melanie O’Reilly and her trio. Downbeat magazine calls O’Reilly “one of Ireland’s foremost jazz ambassadors.” Melanie has performed at such festivals and venues as Lincoln Center, the Edinburgh International Festival, Musique d’Ici et d’Ailleurs in France, and the International Jazz Festival at UCLA. The musicians in her trio have appeared have appeared with such musical legends as Sting, Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, Etta Jones, and Jose Feliciano.
