There was some rancor, there was some intrigue… but in the end the people spoke and made their choices known.

Here’s a breakdown of election results statewide.

  1. On a trip into the valley this week to visit family, my wife says “D A H L E”. What does that sign mean? Then we saw another, and another, and the third one read “Brian Dahle for Governor”, and I said, Oh, bleep. He must have been the guy running against Newsom.

  2. I am unable to place the pictured yacht. It does not appear to be the USS Sequoia or the African Queen. Is it of historical note?

    • She’s ours. The Noz4News II – aka Nosy II or Too Nosy, depending on your inclination.

But seriously, we’d be interested in knowing. Reminded us of Mel Belli’s motor yacht. We have Skywatchers out there who identify overflying aircraft in seconds, perhaps we have some Yachtspeople (Yachtsies?) who might know.

  3. “I began to sense faintly that secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy … censorship. When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, ‘This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,’ the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything — you can’t conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him.” — Robert Heinlein, If This Goes On

  4. It was back and forth there for a while but it went pretty much as expected. Keep an eye on those Talibangicals — they’re still around.

  5. The best part of an election being over is no more garbage mailers from candidates, and no more signs plastered all over the place. I often wonder, do all these signs/mailers actually cause someone to vote for a specific person? I really doubt it.

    • We hear you, John. It may sound self-serving, but we have been advocating a “digital” approach to getting out the vote for some time due to the drawbacks you cite.

      • Sounds good to me…anyone else seen all the signs on Olympic heading from Lafayette to Walnut Creek? What a mess, I hope the campaigns are forced to clean up the mess, many other places also…

    • We filled 2 safeway bags with those mailers – which went in unread. The candidates are welcome to come get them. I don’t think they can be recycled.

  6. What did we learn? That the Orange Blowbag kills everything he touches — something most of us have known since 2012. We also learned that a sizable portion of the population is certifiably insane or clinically stupid. We can come back from this but it’s going to take some time and self-education. I’m not so sure we can do it.

    • I happily voted for Trump last time but I don’t think of Democrats as stupid or crazy. Instead, I think of democrats as being overwhelmed by a massive propaganda machine in the media, schools, and popular culture backed by a consortium of extreme Leftists and dishonest greedy politicians. I can talk to a high school student who will think Trump is the devil, but be speechless when told during his presidency we had the lowest black unemployment rate in history. The student likely expected black Americans were all in transit camps instead from the horse manure shoveled at them in school. If I had been lazy and just kept watching and having CNN and the NY Times telling me what to think, I would probably also still be voting democrat.

      • Ha! Nice try LV but of course I wasn’t thinking of Democrats! As for the propaganda machine, I think it too is being identified for what it is. People only have to be hit in the head with a shovel so many times before common sense begins to take over.

      • Our dog has a fuzzy orange chew toy shaped like a sheep that we named Donald Trump. Our neighbors must wonder when they hear us tell the dog to bring in Donald Trump.

  7. Democratic Governor, Lt. Governor, Secy of State, Treasurer, Controller, AG, all down the line…were NOT elected by a narrow base of zealots. You don’t get 58/42 blue wave margins like that without Independent and Republican voters. LV is looking in the wrong place for delusional voters.

    • david: I said exactly the opposite, that the Democrats are not delusional. My opinion is that they have been too greatly influenced by a controlled and biased media among other factors. If you look at either Russia or China, the opinions of the citizens there are very heavily influenced by a controlled media but they are not delusional.

      • “I think of democrats as being overwhelmed by a massive propaganda machine in the media, schools, and popular culture backed by a consortium of extreme Leftists and dishonest greedy politicians.”

LV, you are describing Democrats as being deluded, and then claiming you “said exactly the opposite, that the Democrats are not delusional”. I think you need to consult a dictionary and think really hard.

Furthermore, you don’t seem to recognize that a 58/42 election whooping can only be realized by a combination of Democratic and Republican and Independent voters uniting against Republican candidates.
I see no point in having a conversation.

        • Deluded is similar to fooled, while delusional is a mental defect. They are different. Second, the party registration in CA is 46% Dem, 24% Rep, and 30% other. Since there were only two candidates, equal distribution of the “other” group to the other two parties should have had Newsom win by a larger percent than he did.

  8. I’m still holding out hope that someone in a postion of responsibility in this country will restore my faith in the justice system and arrest the former president for the crimes we watched him commit in real time.

    • Why would you encourage the national police forces to take sides in politics like we are a banana republic? The FBI kept the Russia collusion story going after they knew it was fake and financed by Hillary. The propaganda generated by those $12 million salary a year Anderson Cooper types was so virulent some people still believe it. The DOJ has been sitting on Hunter’s laptop with zero progress when those who have looked at copies of it say it shows clear evidence Joe and Hunter worked together to sell the power of Joe’s office for money from China and Ukraine. Really, Hunter with zero background in energy or Eastern Europe is magically appointed as board of directors of a Ukrainian energy company? The national police forces need to be purged of the ability to support corruption and influence our voting choices.

      • Not asking them to take sides – though they have been saluting him and raising doubts to their loyalty for years – I’m asking them to do their JOBS.

  9. Wait, what? Who’s minority leader of the Senate? It’s not Schumer! and hmmm, not McConnell? Senator Thurston Howell III?

  10. You gotta admit. When those Hollywood liberal elites deliver a big wave, it’s in SurroundSound! The twin towers, the Statue of Liberty OBLITERATED in fiction on fictional MSNBC no less. The New Yorker sitting on a bench with his back to the wave reading his paper. Priceless! “I don’t got time for this”, it says!
So, I was more than a little disappointed this week at the “real America” response. There was a LOT of hoopla, a lot of American revivalism, and then no special effects. Pffft!

  11. Broke News!
Tonight, the bruised and battered candidate for Champine of the Woild announced with tears streaming down his swollen face: “I coulda been a contender. I coulda been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am, let’s face it.”
