Walnut Creek Apple Thieves Caught In Los Gatos Saturday

A mobile retail theft crew was arrested in Los Gatos after an organized “blitz” theft at the Walnut Creek Apple store on S. Main Street Saturday morning.

Bulletins giving a description of the thieves and a 2014 KIA sedan they were believed to have been using went out to other local law enforcement agencies shortly after the Walnut Creek theft was reported.

Los Gatos police located the suspect car, with two suspects inside, on the 15000 block of Los Gatos Boulevard during an enforcement stop hours later, according to a police press release.

Officers searching the vehicle found two loaded firearms – one an illegally manufactured “ghost gun” along with a 30 round extended magazine, according to police. The car’s occupants were arrested for their involvement in the theft as well as for illegal possession of firearms. Further investigation led police to three additional suspects believed connected to the Apple theft – two juveniles and an adult male – in a gold Chevrolet sedan located at a neighboring shopping center.

Police allegedly found Apple products stolen from the Walnut Creek store inside the car.

Five people were arrested, Los Gatos police working with Walnut Creek Police to process recovery of the stolen merchandise, according to the release. Two suspects were not identified due to their juvenile status but the adults were identified as:

  • 20-year-old Dayzia Leaks: Carmichael resident arrested on charges of organized retail theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, carrying a loaded firearm in public and possession of a high-capacity magazine
  • 29-year-old Omari Crump: Sacramento resident arrest on charges of organized retail theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, carrying a loaded firearm in public and possession of a high-capacity magazine
  • 20-year-old Omarea Grigsby: Antioch resident arrested on charges on charges of: PC 490.4 organized retail theft, PC 496, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor
