Homicide Suspect Arrested Following Shooting In Rodeo Tuesday

One man was killed and another injured after gunfire erupted at a home on Mariposa Street in Rodeo Tuesday.

Deputies responded to the area of Mariposa between California Street and Dempsey Way at about 5:11 p.m. in answer to reports of gunshots and at least one injured person lying outside the residence.

They found one person suffering from a gunshot wound and another who apparently had leapt from an upstairs window.

The shooting victim, later identified as 25-year-old Vinson Bragg of Rodeo, was pronounced deceased on scene by paramedics. The second person, not identified by authorities, was transferred to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Deputies located the suspect in the shooting hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. The man, identified as 23-year-old Joseph Gladney of Rodeo, was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for murder and attempted murder. He is being held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to the sheriff’s office.
