VIDEO/GRAPHIC CONTENT: Pleasanton PD Release Officer-Involved Shooting Videos

Pleasanton police released a video on last week’s officer-involved shooting incident involving 33-year-old San Jose resident Cody Chavez.

This incident occurred on Thursday, February 17, 2022, when dispatch received a call from a victim of domestic violence at 4899 Willow Road. Pleasanton officers arrived on scene and found Mr. Chavez inside the victim’s apartment. After several hours, Mr. Chavez exited the apartment armed with a knife. Mr. Chavez charged at officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Mr. Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Pleasanton police officers involved in this incident are four-year veteran Brian Jewell and seven-year veteran Mario Guillermo.

Police said the eight-minute video was intended to better inform the public on the events that led to this incident. The video incorporates the audio from the 9-1-1 call, video from officers’ body-worn cameras, and footage from the Alameda County Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).

  1. Drones and robots and less lethal and armored cars and still it ends with a deadly shooting. I believe the man made a aggresssive move toward the officers and paid for it but may be we need better gear. The non lethal didn’t work did it?
