Concord Homicide Victim Identified; First Murder Of 2022

A man mortally wounded during an altercation in a Bennett Way home has been identified by county coroner’s officials.

Deputies said Thomas Arellano, 31, died of stab wounds inflicted during a struggle inside a residence in the 3000 block of Bennett Way the evening of January 22.

Investigators said police found Arellano suffering from stab wounds and transported him to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.

A suspect in Arellano’s murder reportedly fled the household prior to the arrival of police. It was Concord’s first reported homicide in 2022.

UPDATE: A man suspected of murdering Arellano was arrested by Concord PD detectives and agents from the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force in Lafayette on Jan. 27. The suspect’s name has not been released and details of his arrest were not provided.
