Kathy Moore (Kate McCarroll Moore) is a collector of stories, discarded objects, and memories. She is a mentor teacher, book coach, and staff developer who served three terms as Poet Laureate for the City of San Ramon. Kathy holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice and she uses her passion for poetry to promote kindness, empathy, and connection. Named SRVUSD Teacher of the Year in 2007 and San Ramon Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year in 2009, Kathy retired from the San Ramon Unified School District as Director of Instruction in 2019.
She currently serves as a family literacy book coach for Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream, a non-profit organization that connects low-income families with access to high quality books. Kathy was an education columnist for several years in the East Bay Times and has had her poetry published in numerous journals and anthologies. She is the author of the chapbook, Avians of Mourning, and the forthcoming collection, Alphapoetica: A Poetry Primer for the Everyday Poet. Her novels for children include Elinormal and New Girl: The Further Adventures of Elinormal.
