Area police adopted a more aggressive posture against street racers who have taken over neighborhood and city streets in recent nights, impounding cars and arresting or citing drivers.

Exact numbers remain hard to come by, with apparent enforcement efforts taking place in Concord, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek – cities hit hard by the effects of unfettered street racing/sideshow activity in the last 24 hours.

In Concord, police disruption of one gathering on Cowell Road sent attendees of one local gathering scattering on foot into a local neighborhood. At least two cars were stopped and impounded.

  1. Good work, but I’m waiting for people to call this crackdown as racist, as it affects one particular group more than others.
