Neighbor “Ed” forwards this screen grab from a neighborhood security system, captured around 6:30 p.m. the evening of December 13 in the Reliez Valley Highlands area of unincorporated Lafayette.

Ed says an aggressive car burglary, mail theft occurred in the area that night, with neighbors finding numerous pieces of mail discarded in the area, neighbors thinking the thieves were looking for California Stimulus debit cards.

Grab your mail as soon as you can, folks – there are plenty of people all too happy to take it if you don’t.

  1. I’m old. I remember when the postman brought your mail to your door. That delivery method cuts down on stolen mail.

  2. Why not just fraudulently apply for benefits from EDD? The state of CA has paid out an estimated $20 billion in fraudulent claims post Covid. That would be a lot easier than robbing mailboxes.
