An Amtrak passenger train with 30 people on board struck a high-centered car transport in San Pablo Monday, toppling the cars, injuring the engineer and leaving the passengers on foot and seeking alternative transportation.

Night Hawk photographer Craig Cannon said the damaged train engine rolled 500 feet past the wreckage at Soto and Market street, leaving 3 cars aboard an auto transport strewn in its wake. Medical personnel treated the train engineer for unspecified injuries while the passengers, three of whom were examined at the scene, tried to locate ride share transportation to their next destination.
