Three air ambulances and multiple ground ambulances were called to help transfer several victims from a serious injury crash on Willow Pass Road at Port Chicago Highway early Sunday morning.

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District helicopters and a California Highway Patrol aircraft were kept busy shuttling 7 victims to local hospitals with various injuries, some serious.

One of the involved cars was traveling north on Port Chicago Highway while a second was driving west on Willow Pass when they collided – one of the vehicles catching fire.

The intersection was closed for approximately three hours as the injured were transported and the wreckage removed.

We’ll update this story with additional information as we get it. The 2-car crash was reported at 12:18 a.m.

  1. Did you get video??? My neighbor said she’d be sending you some. All those helicopters at once were crazy.

    • We’ve gotten some, L. Much of it had technical or licensing issues (music). Always grateful to get stuff from the readership…
