ORIGINAL POST:

Firefighters at this hour (9:38 p.m., Monday) appear to be making headway against a destructive fire which burned through a home at 125 Silver Oak Terrace in Orinda.

Heavy smoke and flames greeted firefighters upon arrival, crews swinging into an offensive firefighting mode and then a rescue mode upon learning that one person, believed to be the wife of the family residing at the home, was still inside.

A search team conducted a search of the burning residence and are believed to have found the missing woman unconscious inside. She was extricated but her condition is unknown at this time.

The fire was reported at 9:05 p.m. with firefighters reporting they had gained control and were in overhaul mode at 9:46 p.m.

Neighbors had reported an earlier fire at 16 Fallen Leaf Terrace and some mentioned a power surge in the area before the fire broke out. PG&E crews were in the area.

As of this writing (Wednesday, Oct. 20) the cause of the fire or any estimate of damage has not been provided.

  1. She is a close family friend, and I’ve known her for almost 15 years. She helped me and my family a lot, specially when I just moved here in the US. I can say she is one of biggest reason where I am and my family right now. RIP Ms. Nell

    • Jan – I’m so deeply sorry. I was in her home a long time ago 27 years ago when we installed marble and granite. She was so kind. Deeply hurt that she passed away. God rest her soul!
