Blustery winds set electrical wires to dancing throughout much of the 24/680 Monday, making connections and arcs where there shouldn’t have been any and plunging large swatches of our valleys into darkness.

Outages in Walnut Creek, Danville-San Ramon, and Brentwood were reported with thousands left unpowered and intersections without guiding lights.

There were no related reports of injuries but local public works crews were kept busy setting up sandwich board reminders on how to handle blacked out intersections.

If the lights are out in your neighborhood or you see wires doing things they shouldn’t be doing drop us a note in the comments section so we can assess the breadth of the problem.

  1. My sister can’t charge her Tesla in San Ramon. Worried that the outage will last all night and then won’t be able to drive to work tomorrow.

  2. If only there were some technology that could let you drive without having to depend on a reliable source of electricity.
