The Pleasant Hill Library Foundation has received a $250,000 contribution from the non-profit group, Friends of Pleasant Hill Library, to furnish the city’s new library. The Friends and their corps of volunteers operate the Friends of Pleasant Hill Library Book Store in downtown Pleasant Hill.
“The Friends want to thank the tremendous ongoing support by the community for the Friends Book Store during the past year. This is what has made this contribution possible”, said Katherine Bracken, Store Manager.
This transformational gift brings the Pleasant Hill Library Foundation’s campaign significantly closer to its $1.5 million goal. The construction of the library’s modern new building was made possible by the passage of Measure K. The Foundation’s campaign is raising money for furnishings, fixtures and equipment that maximize the potential of the new building, creating a state-of-the art community space for residents of all ages.
The new library is slated to open in the spring of 2022.
The Campaign is more than two thirds of the way to its goal. Community members are invited to contribute to making the dream for a beautiful new library a reality. Now through October 15, all gifts up to $50,000 to the campaign will be doubled thanks to a personal matching gift pledge from Vice Mayor, Michael Harris. www.phlibraryfoundation.org.
