The Lafayette City Council has appointed Wei-Tai Kwok to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Councilmember Cameron Burks.

The City Council selected Kwok at a special meeting on August 24, 2021 by a vote of three to one, and he was sworn in at the online meeting. Kwok will serve on the City Council until the next regularly scheduled municipal election, which will be in November 2022.

Wei-Tai Kwok is a self-employed Community Climate Solutions advocate. A 19-year resident of Lafayette, Kwok currently serves on the city’s Environmental Task Force and is an active member of the Community Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee. Kwok is also past president of Sustainable Lafayette, a grassroots nonprofit that is focused on creating a healthy sustainable future.
