Man Shot, Wounded In Concord Wednesday

A man dressed head to foot in black motorcycle attire approached and shot another man in the parking lot of the Willow Pass Community Park on E. Olivera Wednesday.

Emergency personnel were called to the area around 1 p.m., reportedly finding a person in or near a car with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was conscious and talking, witnesses said, clearly unnerved by the brazen nature of the shooting.

They said a man dressed in motorcycle clothing complete with gloves and helmet approached the victim and opened fire with a revolver. The suspect, believed to be in his 30s, was last seen running in the direction of Salvio Street and is believed to have left the area aboard a Suzuki sport bike.

The wounded man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. News of his condition was not released.

  1. I’m sorry that I’m making a light of the situation, but when the article described a menacing motorcyclist covered head to toe in black clothing….. I had a certain visual in my mind. Then you went on to say that he left on the Suzuki sport bike. The only thing funnier would have been a moped.
    Still very scary.

  2. I’m probably going to make a lot of people mad with this statement, but it just dawned on me today that the tighter and tighter we’ve made gun laws, the more and more gun crimes there have been.
I mean you Chicago is an example: the tightest gun laws but they have the worst gun violence. Ditto with California tuff tuff gun laws, but criminals running around with guns everywhere. Yet then you get states that are ‘pro gun’ like Texas or Arizona, even Nevada, and there’s less gun criminal activity.
I’m not trying to say anything here politically but my mind just finally lit up today with this oddity. Hmmm.

    • Not mad, just disbelieving. Part of the usual argument that states with Old West approaches to guns have less crime. The last stats I saw put mass casualty shootings up about 60% in Texas. The fact is that this country loves guns and that there are a lot of them out there. And its obvious we’ve learned to live with that.

    • Not odd and definitely not a hmmm. I would suggest anyone who thinks any of those states will give you a better ride than California should definitely go. You won’t get any argument from me and I won’t try to stop you.
