UPDATE: San Ramon PD detained suspect Sanchez without incident after he was spotted in Monarch Park, 7:50 p.m.

A police search for a man wanted in connection with a Florida murder led to a lockdown order for a San Ramon neighborhood Tuesday as police brought in a drone, canine team, and helicopter to help search for their suspect.

Police later identified their suspect as Reynaldo John Sanchez, 21. He was last seen wearing a red shirt as he sprinted from a vehicle stopped at Deldrin Court and Saturn Park Drive.

Residents living in the area were advised to shelter in their homes as the search for Sanchez got underway. Officers later confirmed that they had recovered a loaded Glock 9mm handgun inside the suspect’s vehicle. This gun was reported as stolen to the Hollywood (FL) Police Department on  January 5, 2021.

Sanchez and the unidentified woman were stopped by police after the license plate triggered an automated reader and determined a link to the Florida case. Details of that case were not immediately available.

Police saturated the San Ramon neighborhood where Sanchez was last seen, following up on a flurry of sighting and reports from anxious neighbors through the afternoon and into the evening. At approximately 8 p.m. police received calls from several residents reporting a man answering Sanchez’s description walking not far from where he had been last seen.

Several officers moved in to make the arrest.

Sanchez was booked at the Contra Costa County jail in Martinez for the outstanding murder-related warrant issued by the Broward County (FL) Sheriff’s Department on August 10, 2021. His companion, identified as Tiarra Steadman, 30, of Florida, was booked at the county jail for violations of CVC 2800.2 – evading police, PC 25400(A)(1) – possession of a concealed weapon in a vehicle, PC 25850(C)(2) – possession of a stolen firearm, and PC 32 – accessory to a felon.
