More than 100 firefighters were called out to encircle a wind-driven fire which burned through one residence and left one person injured in the area of 6600 Old School Road in Tassajara Saturday.

The fire burned quickly through a residential property and advanced up a hillside to a ridge line where it eventually stalled and was brought under control. Evacuation warnings were issued by the county to areas thought to be in line of the advancing blaze but no evacuations were ultimately necessary.

Incident supervisors said late Saturday that forward progress of the fire was stopped at 9 acres. Firefighters remained on a scarred ridge line overnight establishing a line around the fire and extinguishing hot spots. No updates were provided about the person injured at the outset of the blaze.

    • Currently “muddling” at the top of the ridge you see, not pushing any particular direction at the moment… believe it was moving north-east of the point of origin along Old School Road.

      • Ok. My friend has her horse at Brown Ranch on Camino Tassajara and Highland Rd. Should we be concerned?

        • Wouldn’t imagine so… google 6600 Old School Road and orient yourself to a 10 acre – possibly 30 acre – fire burning to the north east from that location. Believe the county just wanted people to be aware…
