Area police descended on Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Mall Tuesday after a man with a gun reportedly fired several shots at a passing car in Lot “E” outside the mall before running back inside.

A police tactical team quickly formed up minutes after the report of shots fired was issued at approximately 2:30 p.m. The team conducted a tactical sweep of the mall in search of a suspect described as a black male dressed in all black.

Lt. Erik Silacci said police received reports of shots fired outside the mall at 2:20 p.m., with officers arriving to the “E” parking to find two cars with bullet holes as well as the shell casings.

Officers received information that a subject entered the mall and fled through another exit immediately after the gunfire. Officers conducted a search of the shopping center and the surrounding area, and they were unable to locate any involved subjects.

The department had not received reports of any injuries related to the incident as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the lieutenant.
