As we reported on Friday night, a Concord police officer was in the right place at the right time on Salvio Street as a 2-year-old child lapsed into unconsciousness after apparently getting “ahold of some fentanyl” from its mother.

The officer, identified by friends as Aaron Khamosh, immediately began life-saving measures on the child – which included chest compressions and CPR.

Per CPD’s Facebook, the baby failed to respond to the officer’s efforts and Officer Khamosh was unable to detect a pulse. As the child grew pale the mother revealed the fentanyl exposure – thus identifying the problem.

Officer Khamosh administered two doses of Narcan and continued CPR, after which the baby started breathing and eventually regained consciousness.

The child was initially transported to John Muir Health, Concord Medical Center and is currently recovering at Children’s Hospital Oakland, where it is under the care of Child and Family Services. The baby’s mother, unidentified by police, has been arrested and charged with child endangerment and possession of a narcotic.
