Wilder Offramp From Westbound Highway 24 Closed By Fatal Crash Thursday

The Wilder Road offramp in Orinda was closed after a fatal crash reported at 4:54 a.m. Thursday.

Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District crews called to the area by a report of a multi-vehicle crash found an overturned pickup truck with the occupant trapped inside. Traffic was re-routed around the scene as crews worked to free the motorist.

The California Highway Patrol subsequently reported that a red Ford Ranger pickup truck had driven off the road and overturned, its roof slamming into a metal light pole.

The Ford sustained major damage and its roof was crushed. The truck’s 60-year-old driver, a Brentwood man, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
