Health Advisory Issued For Richmond, North Richmond And San Pablo After Fuel Leak At Chevron Long Wharf

UPDATE: The petroleum leak at Richmond Chevron has been stopped. Our HazMat team is conducting air monitoring to assess potential community impacts. Avoid the area if possible. People with respiratory conditions should consider staying indoors as a precaution against strong odors.

ORIGINAL: A fuel leak at the Chevron Richmond Long Wharf triggered a Public Health Advisory for the area Tuesday. Efforts to boom the area of the leak are underway.

Officials said that an unspecified petroleum product gushing at an estimated a 5 gallons per minute had leaked into the surrounding waterway.

The Public Health Advisory was immediately declared for Richmond, San Pablo and N. Richmond areas.

Chevron’s own fire department as well as apparatus from various local agencies was on hand. A county Hazardous Materials unite was also reportedly en route to the scene.
