From the City of Walnut Creek:

Walnut Creek residents,

This morning’s skies were sunny and cloudless, but the storms are expected to arrive late today and continue on and off for the next week.  The City of Walnut Creek has restocked sandbag supplies at a variety of locations, and is encouraging residents to prepare now rather than wait for the rains to come.

Sand and bags are available for you at the following sites:

  • Lancaster Road across from Orchard Lane
  • Heather Farm Park Community Center parking lot (North end)
  • Larkey Park parking lot
  • Howe Homestead Park parking lot
  • Rudgear Park parking lot

Please bring a shovel, and a family member to help if possible.  It is much easier to fill sandbags as a team than on your own.  The City is also encouraging people to check for leaves and other debris in the gutters of your home and along your street, especially near drains.  If you experience localized flooding in your neighborhood during weekday business hours, please contact Walnut Creek Public Works at 925-943-5854.  After hours, please contact the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 925-943-5844.

Visit the City’s homepage at walnut-creek.org for reminders about locations in the City and throughout the County, as well as an informational video to watch showing you how to properly fill and set sandbags along your home or business property.
