Contra Costans turned out to elect their civic leaders Tuesday, some old names surfacing as frontrunners in what county elections officials designated “semi-official election night final” counts along with a mix of newcomers.

In the County Seat, veteran Martinez City Councilman Mark Ross was ahead of challenger Danial Leahy in his bid to retain a seat on the council, while incumbent Noralea Gipner was behind by an equally slim margin – 1,384 to 1,334 – held by council aspirant Brianne Zorn.

In San Ramon, City Councilman Dave Hudson was handed the mayor’s gavel, assuming the role held by Bill Clarkson. In Orinda, Darlene Gee and Inga Miller amassed a nearly identical tally to move them into position for two available city council seats while, in neighboring Moraga, Renata Sos, David Stromberg, and Teresa Onoda emerged as likely victors for three available spots on the Town Council.

Lafayette saw Cameron Burks, Carl Anduri and Gina Dawson emerge as frontrunners for its three available council seats; Danville residents indicated an early preference for sending veteran Town Council members Newell Arnerich and Renee Morgan back to the council – where they are expected to be joined by newcomer David Fong.

In Walnut Creek, incumbent city council members Kevin Wilk and Loella Haskew were granted their second and third terms on the council, respectively, with newcomer Cindy Darling rounding out the field of three aspirants with a second-place finish behind Wilk.

Note: While considered a “semi-official election night final,” we’ll be monitoring the county elections tally for any significant changes and report them as they come in.

  1. Congratulations to Moraga’s new and returning TC members. I believe our community collectively made good choices given the field of candidates.

  2. Drinking heavily….. neighbors fighting….. kid screaming something over and over outside. We may have some real data tomorrow. This is hell.
