The Walnut Creek Homeless Task Force, established in 2015, is hosting a free public virtual forum on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, 6:30–7:30pm. This is the third in a series of informational forums on homelessness in Walnut Creek.

The fall event is designed to give community members and business owners an opportunity to learn about the actions being taken in Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County to address homelessness. Expert speakers and panelists from the City, County, and Trinity Center will discuss facts about homelessness, causes of homelessness, problems experienced by the homeless and the community, and possible paths and solutions to issues that result from homelessness in our neighborhoods.

They will also discuss the current challenges faced by the homeless and homeless services workers during the health crisis. During Q&A, panelists will take questions from virtual attendees through a Q&A moderator, who will monitor e-mailed questions.

Forum speakers and panelists include Walnut Creek Mayor Loella Haskew; Walnut Creek Mayor pro tem Kevin Wilk; Jaime Jenett, Contra Costa Health Services; Police Manager Mardy Beggs-Cassin, Walnut Creek Police Department; Marjolein Daas, Trinity Center; and Lisa Thomas, CORE (Coordinated Outreach Referral, Engagement).

Donna Colombo, Walnut Creek Homeless Task Force, will be the forum’s moderator. Q&A will follow the panel discussion.

The November forum will be held virtually via Zoom. While the event is free, registration is required by visiting www.wchomelesstaskforce.org, or e-mailing wchomelessctf@gmail.com. The Zoom link will be sent to registrants in late October.
