As we reported early this morning, sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a body found at the 5000 block of Marsh Road in an unincorporated area north of Buchanan Field Airport.

Upon arrival at approximately 1:14 a.m., deputies and CHP Officers located a deceased female on the road.

The CHP started the initial investigation due to evidence that the female was struck by a vehicle.

During an area check, a Deputy Sheriff found the suspect vehicle nearby. Based on initial findings and evidence, this incident was later classified as a vehicular homicide and the Office of the Sheriff took over the primary investigation.

The victim is identified as 35-year-old Shelly Stevens of Lafayette.

The investigation is ongoing.

    • I think the West Wind drive in goes to midnight. Friends saying she may have been walking back to her car on Marsh.

  1. From what I’m reading on another blog from her friends, she was meeting her ex, and you can read between the lines.

    • I don’t like to read between the lines. The facts are that it was an unusual hour and location – though there was an event venue nearby. The cops say the suspect vehicle was located nearby. The owner of that car is probably saying it was stolen unless the driver was present when it was found. And its called a vehicular homicide so we’re talking some sort of criminal negligence or murderous intent to strike her – push her from car, etc. Any number of things are possible so I’m waiting for more info. I think and hope this is solved and this person is able to get some justice.

      • She was either hit and killed by someone she knew or someone she didn’t know. Regardless of who was driving, they know who owns the vehicle.
