County health services officials are reporting delays in the processing of COVID-19 test results statewide, with California postponing any movement of counties on or off its watch list for enhanced enforcement measures until the issue can be resolved.

And while county residents continue to wrangle with the issues associated with the virus, data compiled for individual cities and towns show that while some have been hard hit by the virus others have managed to escape virtually unscathed.

Still, ongoing testing has resulted in new findings – including one recently of a youthful swim camp participant in Orinda – as organizations attempt to come to terms with the outbreak and its repercussions.

So far, Concord appears to be the hardest hit with 37 people dying of complications as a result of the virus, with nursing homes still a major source of both positive COVID tests among patients and staff as well as deaths.

To date, 131 people have died of COVID-19 in Contra Costa since the pandemic was identified with four deaths reported in the last 24 hours alone.

The latest deaths were reported in Moraga, Walnut Creek, Brentwood, and Pittsburg.

  1. A lot of deaths. LOTS of deaths. Some will say “It is what it is.”
Some will say, you gotta OPEN THE SCHOOLS.
Some will say testing is overrated.

While others will share the grief of their brethren, some will not feel it at all.

  2. For the local school that’s being used as testing center for Covid-19, is written confirmation available to support the disinfection process that may be in place, and also, would there be any tracking, or a list of implications to the location’s residential neighborhood?

  3. “We don’t know if or cases are rising, plateauing, or decreasing. We are very anxious for this issue to get resolved.” – What a mess.

  4. Medical staff of all stripes wear masks and gloves and wash their hands thoroughly to prevent the spread of infection to us. They are begging us to extend that courtesy to them and our fellow citizens during this pandemic. Many of them are physically and emotionally exhausted…We are being punished for being stupid!
