Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District firefighters were called to the 18th hole at the Tilden Park Golf Course Thursday after a car rolled off the adjacent roadway and fell onto the course.

The incident was reported at 2:21 p.m. as witnesses reported a car crashing off Golf Course Drive and onto the golf course, three occupants reportedly fleeing the area while one person remained trapped inside the car with a suspected back injury.

Firefighters initiated a search of the area after witnesses reported that a second car may have been involved in the crash, and that possibly a child and a dog may also have been involved. Those reports could not be immediately confirmed, though some witnesses reported that another car may have picked up the occupants fleeing the scene.

A Contra Costa Fire Protection District helicopter landed at the golf course and transported the sole remaining victim to John Muir Hospital.

  1. Three occupants fleeing, … mmm sounds like they were in a stolen car… and of course the one trapped suspect would say, he wasn’t driving.
