From the John Muir Land Trust:

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District, in partnership with John Muir Land Trust, will be implementing a prescribed burn on Thursday, November 14, 2019 on the Painted Rock property in Moraga across from the Rheem Valley Shopping Center.

The Fire District crew will be taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to burn excessive amounts of brush and shrubs, reducing the risk of future fire damage in the wildland suburban interface. Local residents and businesses should expect fire safety vehicles on site and nearby as well as smoke from this controlled burn. The exercise could be postponed if conditions change.

  1. With all the fires lately, I’m not sure why they’re doing this. You would think they’d err on the side of caution.

    • Because its is not massively windy. And this should be done constantly. Controlled burns help mitigate fire dangers. They need to be doing this a LOT more.
