San Ramon’s Iron Horse Middle School Under Lockdown After Graffiti Threat

SHARE

A scrawled threat of gun violence at the school has prompted a lockdown at Iron Horse Middle School in San Ramon. Police on scene… NO imminent threat found.

Message from the school’s principal:

Dear Iron Horse Middle School Staff and Parents/Guardians,

We want to inform you that Iron Horse Middle School is currently on lockdown. This morning, graffiti was discovered on a bathroom wall at Iron Horse Middle School. The graffiti threatens a “school shooting at 12 p.m.”

Upon discovery of the graffiti, the San Ramon Police were called. They are currently investigating the threat. They do not believe that there is any imminent danger to students or staff. However, out of an extreme abundance of caution, we have made the decision to lockdown the school and keep all students in their classroom. We want to reassure you that everyone is safe. We are working to ensure that students have water and food. The Police are remaining on campus to ensure that students and staff feel safe and protected.

When a school is on lockdown, students remain in their classrooms. No one is allowed on or off campus. Please do not come to the school to pick up your students. We will not be able to release them. We will keep you informed as information becomes available. Though these actions are extreme, we prefer to err on the side of caution to make sure that the campus is safe.

We understand that this kind of news is very unsettling. Please be assured that there is nothing more important to me or this District than the safety of our students and our staff.

Sincerely, Demetrius Ball/ Principal

San Ramon police are on campus and plan to stay through the day.
