As you finish harvesting your summer bounty of fruits and vegetables, you may wonder, “now what?” Shorter days and cooler weather don’t mean you have to hang up the trowel and pack away the gardening gloves. Instead, head to The Gardens at Heather Farm for Farmscape’s Lara Hermanson’s workshop: Planting a Successful Fall/Winter Garden.

Designed to give both novice and experienced gardeners valuable tips for gardening at home or out in the community, Lara will help you select fall and winter crops, discuss whether you need to amend your soil, provide instruction regarding planting techniques, and give valuable insight on how to irrigate your new crops. With dirt in her roots, Lara began her career working alongside her landscaper mother on the south side of Chicago. A licensed landscaper herself, Lara has designed and installed over 700 residential gardens. Highlights of her work include maintaining Faithful Farm on the roof at Levi’s Stadium and the garden at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

If you want to ensure an abundance of homegrown fall/winter crops, make sure you put this workshop on your calendar.
