Police in Orinda and adjacent agencies are looking for two people who took a pickup truck from an Orinda resident at gunpoint Sunday, leaving their stolen car running in the victim’s driveway.

The incident was reported at approximately 10:08 a.m., shortly after the California Highway Patrol was in pursuit of a silver Audi RS5 in Baypoint. That car was left behind after two people, at least one armed with a chrome or silver plated pistol, confronted a driver in the 400 block of Camino Sobrante in Orinda, demanding – and getting – the victim’s Toyota Tacoma pickup.

A search is underway for the suspects, described as an Hispanic male and female. The Tacoma is described as a black 2008 Toyota Tacoma, 2 door extra cab with a KPIG bumpersticker, chrome bumper and damage to the tailgate. It’s license number is: 8R01259.

The male suspect was described as having a buzz haircut and “chinstrap” beard. The female has long black hair. The couple was last seen heading in the direction of Highway 24.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Law enforcement air assets are operating in the area as police broaden their search for the suspects.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Orinda Police Department at 925.646.2441.
