Danville police were called out to Park Hill Road and Old Orchard Drive in the Sycamore neighborhood early Friday after a person was discovered dead by hanging on the greenbelt at that location.
Police and firefighters determined that the person was beyond hope and recovered the body. Town spokesman Geoff Gillette confirmed the occurrence, adding only that the deceased was a 48-year-old man.
Today’s discovery, made just after 6 a.m., was the second such public space death to stun the area since the body of a high school girl from Lafayette was found near a popular teen hangout and walking trail in that city June 13.
Our deepest condolences to this man’s friends and family. It saddens us that he felt the need to take this route. Please, if you need help, call 211 or 800-833-2900 — they will listen and they can help you.
Very sorry and all thoughts and prayers to his friends and family. Awful.
Got your flash on this this morning and didn’t believe it. People are under such stress and we never know what they are dealing with. Prayers
Very sad and tragic. Prayers.
The argument over the media reporting saddens me as well. Unless you’re a mental health professional or a journalist, the argument is foolish. Whatever happened to letting people do their jobs professionally?
Awful. Another life ended far too soon. For one terrible moment I thought it might be another teen but it is apparent people of all ages are in pain and need of our care and concern.
