A grass fire spotted burning south of Moraga north of the Valle Vista Staging Area burned about an acre of grassland before Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection district firefighters and other responders managed to get it under control.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported though a sizable wild lands response to the blaze attracted the attention of residents.

The fire was reported at approximately 4:50 p.m. and declared under control, despite the difficult terrain, by 5:35 p.m.

Police noted that a drone believed to have been controlled from the area surrounding Joaquin Moraga Intermediate may have prevented aerial drops from being made on the blaze, the device posing a risk to inbound aircraft.

The drone operator was not believed to have been located.
