At last night’s Lafayette City Council meeting, Councilmembers voted unanimously to appoint Mike Anderson as Mayor and Susan Candell as Vice Mayor.
Mayor Anderson will complete the term of Cam Burks, who stepped down as Mayor on April 20 to devote more time to his family and a new career opportunity, although he remains on the City Council. Mayor Anderson was first elected to Lafayette’s all-volunteer City Council in 2005, and has served previously as Mayor in 2007-08, 2012-13, and 2016-17. His current City Council term ends in 2020.
Vice Mayor Candell, who was elected in 2018, is serving her first term as a Lafayette Councilmember. Her term as a Councilmember ends in 2022. Councilmembers in Lafayette are elected at-large and rotate as Mayor upon appointment by the Council.
