Lafayette Library Tatzin Community Hall

AARP/WHO Age-Friendly Livable Lafayette… come join us for our kickoff event to begin our journey into making Lafayette an amazing Age-Friendly community for seniors. We will have speakers, refreshments and free raffle prizes. Mayor Cam Burks and Interim City Manager Niroop Srivatsa will speak. Please think about these questions: Why do you love Lafayette? What are your current age-friendly needs? What age-friendly needs do you foresee for the future?

This will be a free, fun and informative event and will help us plan your future!

  1. Wow! I have thought about it, and I don’t know what “age-friendly” means. I understand what “seniors” means, but I fear we are euphemizing, obfuscating our way to linguistic oblivion. If your goal is to confuse and disorient old people with your market speak, it’s working. Apparently you think old people are not ready to think of themselves as old people. That’s pretty funny! Nowhere does this post spell out what the WHO is in AARP/WHO…World Health Organization? is what comes to mind. Is there a “senior” health crisis in Lafayette that I haven’t heard about?

You ask: “Why do I love Lafayette?” Again, wow! What an arrogant presumption! A nice town with so many challenges.

Finally, a raffle is nice, but I am “age-friendly” so if you have BINGO, please disregard my prior concerns, complaints, confusion because we do like our BINGO.
