Our Flash Subscribers in San Ramon got first word of this as it was happening Wednesday afternoon but several folks have asked about the activity in the Target parking lot about 10:05 a.m.

NEWS24/680 thanks San Ramon Police Lt. Cary Goldberg for the following information:

On 2/6/19 at 1001 hrs, San Ramon Valley 911 Communications Center received a telephone call from an employee working in the Shops at Bishop Ranch center. The employee reported seeing a suspect break the rear window of a parked vehicle.

The suspect was then seen getting in the driver’s seat of a champagne colored Lincoln sedan parked nearby; the vehicle was registered out of San Jose. Two Motor Officers were in the area and responded to the shopping center. The Motor Officers located the suspect’s vehicle parked near Target and they detained two suspects who were seated in the vehicle; the driver Patrick Freeney (24 years old – Oakland) and the passenger Antwon Johnson (24 years old). Suspect Freeney was on searchable probation out of Alameda County for 25400(a) PC (Possession of a Concealed Firearm).

Officers searched the suspects’ vehicle and located stolen items (a briefcase and an Apple laptop computer) from vehicle burglaries at Peet’s Coffee in Pleasant Hill and one near Panera Bread in the Crow Canyon Shopping Center in San Ramon; both vehicle burglaries had occurred within the past few hours. The original witness also identified Freeney as the suspect who broke the window of the parked vehicle in the lot of the Shops at Bishop Ranch.

Both suspects were arrested and booked at the Contra Costa County Jail for 459 PC (Burglary), 496(a) PC (Possession of Stolen Property), and 182 PC Conspiracy. Freeney was also charged with 1203.2 PC (Violation of Probation).
