“What’d I See?” – Bomb Squad At Grangers’ Wharf In Martinez Wednesday

NEWS24/680 reader Joshua Butterfield asked us about some activity on the Martinez shoreline Wednesday, his interest piqued when an Explosives Ordnance truck from Walnut Creek PD rolled onto the scene. Here’s what we found out, courtesy of Park District Public Information Supervisor Dave Mason:

Dave told us a parks district officer initiated a call out to Grangers’ Wharf upon locating a suspicious package under the bridge between the wharf and Nor Cal Sports.

The Walnut Creek PD bomb squad and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters also responded, with the “item” eventually determined to be safe and removed from the scene.

Ed. Note: We get a number of inquiries about incidents in our area of coverage over the course of the day and many fall through the cracks or are simply not addressed by local law enforcement or fire departments. We’ll be “fleshing out” what reports we can as we proceed with our daily assignments and, hopefully, putting a “.” on what you’re seeing out there.
