“What’d I See?” – SRVHS Placed On Brief Lockdown After Report Of Weapon On Campus

On a busy day in Danville, many residents took a moment to query us about the police response to San Ramon Valley High this afternoon. The following is a report from Chief Allan Shields and the folks at Danville PD. And, yes folks, we’ve also asked about a separate incident at Del Amigo High at roughly the same time:

Danville Police Department responded Thursday afternoon to San Ramon Valley High School after receiving a report of a student with a weapon on campus.  The incident was reported at approximately 12:50 p.m.  On the basis of the report, the campus was placed on lockdown while police officers conducted a search for the student.  The student was located and interviewed, and it was determined that they had no weapon and there was no threat to students or staff.  The lockdown was then released at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Chief Allan Shields said that while the report was ultimately unfounded, he expressed gratitude for the awareness and courage of the students who reported their concerns to school authorities.

“Taking the time to report a potential threat is a vital first step to preventing a possible tragedy,” he said. “The best advice we can continue to give our community in this regard is, ‘If you see something, say something.’”

Danville Police encourage the community to report any suspicious behavior or concerns. If it is of immediate concern, call 911. For non-emergencies, call (925) 820-2144.  For those who wish to report a tip anonymously, you can use the Nixle tipline by texting “DANPD” and your tip to 888-777.
