Orinda Wells Fargo Branch Robbed Saturday

SHARE

Lamorinda police – with help from neighboring jurisdictions – are searching for a man who simulated a weapon and held up the Wells Fargo bank branch at 80 Moraga Way in Orinda Saturday night.

Police are concentrating their search near the BART station at this time.

The suspect is described as a white male, 50s, 6′ tall with medium build, long black hair in a ponytail (possibly a wig) multi-colored shirt, glasses and dark pants.

Details remain hard to come by but we’ve determined the suspect entered the bank, either exhibited or simulated a gun in a bag he was carrying and demanded money and compliance from an employee shortly before 6 p.m.

At this point we do not believe anyone was injured. A police perimeter is in place and a canine search team is tracking in the area.

  1. Was this originally reported as a robbery at Safeway in Lafayette, or am I seeing things? I don’t wear glasses – nor do I need them. Or maybe I do. How bizarre…

    • Not Safeway, but downtown Lafayette… we have some folks still working on that “Moraga Way” and “Moraga Road” thing…

  2. I saw the Orinda police there and a Moraga police car drive up. No employees would be in the bank at that time, would they? Maybe the cleaning crew who forgot to lock the door behind them?

  3. So long as it was just the bank that was robbed and not the Wagon. Professor Hill needs those band instruments.
