As we first reported Tuesday morning, it appears Lafayette police and at least one local school are advising parents of a suspicious circumstance at a local school.

Information provided to this site by witnesses and parents have indicated that a man was observed touching himself while sitting in his car in the area of First and School streets (near Lafayette Elementary School) early Tuesday afternoon, with at least one witness contacting police with their suspicions.

Witnesses at the scene said the man drove off before police arrived, but officers stopped Franklin Rivera, 32, of Bay Point on eastbound Highway 24 prior to Pleasant Hill.

Rivera was later booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for indecent exposure. He is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.

There was no immediate word if Rivera was connected in any way to other, similar cases at or around local schools in recent weeks.

    • Other schools in other towns/cities up and down the 24/680 have reported similar occurrences. We believe they are working to determine if the individual arrested yesterday was involved.

    • May be time for that visit to the head doctor, Brian! We have found that readers sometimes blend responses they see on our Facebook or Twitter pages with others seen here. There’s been no culling in this thread.
