Martinez police closed in on a suspected stolen car Saturday and reportedly found drugs, cash, and a gun during a search of the car.

The car’s lone occupant, Darnell Williams, 35, of Richmond, was taken into custody during a felony stop on the vehicle at Alhambra Avenue near Brown Street at approximately 11:21 p.m., according to police.

Police said Williams was in possession of approximately one half ounces of cocaine at the time of his arrest. Another 1.5 ounces of the drug, a stolen and loaded 9mm handgun, over $3,000 in cash and packaging and weighing material consistent with the sale and distribution of narcotics was allegedly found inside the car.

Williams was arrested for two counts of possession of stolen property, possessing a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sale and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on $225,000 bail.
