A 40-acre grass fire burned a large swath of grassland behind Montbretia Way in San Ramon Tuesday, with San Ramon Valley firefighters working to get around the blaze and ultimately preventing any structures from being burned.

The fire consumed grassland and there is no imminent threat to public safety though firefighters and police have been heard asking residents to stay out of the area while fire apparatus maneuvers.

There have been no reports of injuries though we are getting numerous calls from neighbors who can see the smoke.

The fire was declared contained at approximately 4:09 p.m.

    • We’ll bet… about 30 acres burned so far and the plume blowing east. Hang in there… they should have it put down pretty soon.

    • That’s completely normal around here, Dana – a lot of people wait until the smoke plume is right over their heads!
